My fiance and I went on this cruise with another friend. I had previously sailed with Carnival. Carnival is much better! The ships--even the older ones-- are better. The food portions are small and not excellent quality (they are "okay", but not 5-star meals like one would expect). Activities were limited and seemed especially geared for an older--much older-- crowd. There did happen to be a lot of very older senior citizens on board. Bless 'em, but I'm in my 30's and wanted a "fun" cruise, an energetic cruise. This was not it... unless you consider their "scrap-booking hour" fun and energetic. Most of the music everywhere was like 1940s lounge music. There were no good modern music bars at all. I ordered the Coke beverage package, but it was nearly impossible to find a place to get a fountain soda and the hours were limited (they don't tell you THAT when you book). I initially asked if I could bring my own sodas on board-and NO WAY was the answer, so I was stuck with their over-priced, hard-to-find fountain diet Cokes (versus my real poison, Diet Mt. Dew).

The captains reception was nice with free champagne. The other choices to eat, other than the main dining hall were very limited and not really good food choices (unless you love to eat nothing but burgers, pizza, and hot dogs--which I don't eat that stuff at all). The best thing was the salad bar in the main dining room at lunch time-- it's no regular salad bar, it's awesome.

The room as okay, and our steward was excellent. Getting on and off the ship was easy.

It was an okay experience, ,but I will do Carnival again next time. Carnival seems to be a bit younger crowd and a lot more to offer in the way of activities, dance/music options, food options and food quality.

However, if you are like 65 or older, this would probably be a very enjoyable trip for you.

Small portions. had better quality on Carnival. Limited choices on this ship.

Good. Excellent steward.

Dull, boring, minimal. Geared for slow-paced persons.

Way too long of bus trips to see the Mayan Ruins for the short amount of time you get at the ruins. Younger folks will enjoy the Beach Break Deluxe in Cozumel-- great price for transportation and all the food and drink you want for the day.

Wouldn't sail Royal C again. Jokingly heard this ship called the "Grandma of the Seas" and it's so true -- funny but true!
