I thought it would be a good idea to have a teenager’s perception. This cruise
was my sixth and I have done five with RCC. I have been on the Sovereign,
Navigator, and Voyager (2X). This was my first time going to Bermuda and I was
excited. This cruise was much smaller that the Voyager class ships but still
beautiful. I drove to Baltimore from New York which took about four hours. Since
my parents have Platinum status with RCC, we got on the ship in hardly any time,
but if you are new to cruising, the line was very long. Once onboard we toured
the ships and waited to go see our rooms.
Dining Room: My family went on this cruise with another family of five.
We all sat together on the fifth floor and our waiter, Rajiv, from India, was
spectacular. The food was good, but some of it was a little to ethnic. Dessert
was great and the singing and dancing the waiters did to entertain us was
amusing.
Windjammer: The food in the windjammer was okay. Breakfast left a lot to
be desired. I was bored of eggs and pancakes after day two. The omelet station
line was huge and you had to wait twenty minutes for an omelet. Lunch was okay.
Towards the end of the cruise we began to eat in the dining room which was much
better. We only ate dinner there once and it was good, but not as good as the
dining room. We only did this because we got back from Bermuda late.
Pool: I personally did not use the pools because of the fact that they
are filled with saltwater and crowded. There are little kids everywhere and they
splash the water into your eyes which burns.
Entertainment: I attend the Welcome aboard Show, and Farewell Show only. The
welcome show was good because of the comedian. The same goes for the Farewell
show. I regret missing Knight Magic which I heard was fantastic. I had no
interest in going to the production shows because I have gone in the past and
they are boring. Karaoke was funny to watch because the number of people that
could carry a tune I could count on one hand. The Quest was a blast. It is an
adult scavenger hunt where people will do almost anything to win a keychain.
Overall the entertainment that I attended was great.
Activities: After a day I started to become bored. The rockwall was
hardly ever opened because of wind, ping pong is only fun for so long, and there
was only two shuffle boards to play on which were almost always occupied. It
might be that I have been spoiled by going on the voyager but I found a lot more
time to watch the movies in the stateroom which included, Million Dollar Baby,
Be Cool, Spanglish, In Good Company, and The Pacifier.
Adventure Ocean-My brother, who is eleven, was at the kids club every night. He
enjoyed it very much. However, when you get older, they start paying less
attention to you and you have a lot more free time.
Stateroom: My brother and I stayed in an outside cabin which was fine.
The beds were comfortable and we could move easily except for the showers which
were very tight. Our Cabin Steward was Anderson and he was funny and did a great
job.
Overall I give this cruise a 7 out of 10.
