Well, words and pictures can not really show everyone how
much fun my husband and I really had, but I will try….
This was our first cruise and even though I did my research, I had no idea what
to expect…..
We flew into Ft Lauderdale on Sunday, rented a car and drove to Miami. It had
been raining all week in Texas and also when we landed, so I was really worried
our trip was going to be ruined.
The shuttle drops us off, we give our bags to the person there (tip them good
and be friendly, they are the ones who make sure your bags get on the ship on
time). We go check in, get our card and on the ship we go. They take your
picture (which I hate when they do that, but we did it anyway and ended up
buying the picture because we loved it.) Got on the ship, went to our Floor (9),
looked at our room (which is small, but cute. It has everything you need (but an
iron) and was perfect for us). We then went to the pool, got some drinks and
hung out for about an hour. The ship started filling up. Floor 9 is perfect
because the food is on 11 (buffet), main on 6-7 and gift shops on 5. I think we
took the elevator only 3 times the whole week. Stairs are good…that means more
cookies and drinks
So, we then went back to
our room and our bags were already there…..early. We changed into our bathing
suit and went back on the deck. Had a few more drinks and just hung out…it was
wonderful. So, at 4:30, we had to do the drill, which is mandatory, a little bit
of a pain, but try to be one of the last people out there or you will be all the
way in the back….very hot and crowed. We get done with that and went back to the
room. I wasn’t feeling well all day and decided to lie down. Well, I ended up
sleeping until 9pm, so dinner was already over. We ended up going to Johnny
Rockets, which was perfect….Great food, great service and not crowded. We then
went to bingo, walked around and headed back to the room.
Day 2 – Bahamas = the ship was MOVING…(I put my patch on the back of my ear the
night before), Cameron wanted to work out…I still wasn’t feeling well, so I read
a magazine and just relaxed there. The workout area is wonderful. We went to the
buffet for breakfast, which was great. Then went to get a water taxi over to the
Atlantis for $6.00 round trip. Getting off the boat is a little hectic, but
nice.
You get over to the
Bahamas Island/Hotel and it’s a lot of walking around. The food at the hotel is
not worth it…Cost too much and wasn’t that good. Eat on the ship… we continue
walking around and head back to the boat….at this point, it is very hot. Drink
plenty of water.
We started getting ready
for Formal Night….I had my cocktail dress and Cameron had his tux. We went to
the main dinner and met 2 wonderful young couples that ended up being a great
part of our trip. We had a good time at dinner. We all then went to the Dance
Show (which was lame), watched the Love & Marriage Game (FUNNY).
Day 3 – Coco Cay = We eat at buffet, go to the island and just RELAX…NO Phones.
NO Computers…just relax…Cameron went snorkeling; I laid out on a float and met a
lady from my home town….small world. We ate on the island, walked around and
headed back to the boat.
We went back on the
ship, hung out and went to dinner at the main hall. Great food. Walked around
the ship and played Bingo again. Went to the main show, which was so funny…..It
was the Motown, which we thought was going to be lame (That’s why our dinner
mates didn’t go and they ended up missing out) and it was wonderful.
Day 4 – Key West = we eat at the buffet and have to go to immigration and then
go to the Rock Climbing wall (Which Cameron did it and loved it!!!!) before you
get off the boat. Everyone has to do it. Try to be early so you can get in and
out…We get off the ship, walk around the island, and wait for our “Wildlife
Sanctuary Kayaking Experience”. Well, the lady was late and overall it was not
good. We didn’t get to see anything, it was hotter than hot (but they tell you
not to get into the water because of the jellyfish). We get done with our
excursion and head back to the ship.
Key West was pretty
nice. We walked around, shopped, went to a bar and had a drink and headed back
to the ship. We went to dinner (which was a good time), went to the show,, then
walked around and hung out with our dinner mates, went and played the “Battle of
the Sexes” Game, which was so much fun. We all played in it.
So, that was our trip….It was a perfect week…..Our stateroom guy was amazing. He
was there all the time, took care of our room twice a day, left a cute animal in
our room each nice, very friendly…..everyone on the ship was great….very
friendly (and we got around that boat like it was our own).
We are defiantly going
on another Royal Caribbean Cruise in the future… Also, I ordered the wine and
chocolate covered strawberries when we arrived and they were perfect! The food
everywhere was wonderful….so many choices, you should be able to find something.
