My husband and I have just returned from our first cruise which I can only describe as fantastic.

We were unsure of what to expect so opted for the 4 night cruise as a 'taster'. The Majesty of the Seas did not disappoint us and was way beyond our expectations.

We were particularly impressed with the organisation on boarding and leaving the ship at each port. It was a little disappointing not to be able to visit Coco Key due to the recent hurricanes but the day at sea was relaxing and fun.

We Britains were in the minority but the American passengers made us feel really welcome. They were so much fun and were keen to join in the organised events. The 6 americans who made up our dining table of 8 were great.

Our stateroom was good and it was certainly nice to have an outside cabin but the furnishings were dated and generally needed refurbishing, in particular the bathroom. Our stateroom assistant was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for him. The public/communal areas and restaurants were first class.

Our only negative comment is with regard to tipping. We British are not particularly comfortable with this and although we had chosen the 'gratuities included' cruise we still felt we should tip the staff as some were particularly helpful - sometimes 'over the top'. The drinks were not too expensive but the bar waiters were rather over zealous!! Asking if you wanted another drink before you had finished.

We would certainly cruise again with Royal Caribbean - perhaps for 7 nights - but certainly no longer as the excess of food would certainly tell on our waistlines. The midnight chocolate buffet was unbelievable!!

This first cruise was one we shall never forget - and for all the right reasons.
