Western Caribbean

My family is big, entertaining,
fun, and crazy. After hearing about the last cruise they embarked on, I had to
come along for the fun. They all (25+ppl) went on the Adventures of the Seas out
of San Juan in Jan of 2004. The stories are endless and every time I listen to
them I crack up.
So I booked the cruise along with them and headed into the Caribbean.
Being 21 years old and a current college student this review will be mainly
about the attractions that I feel are most important. I keep reading reviews and
they all state the same things. Furthermore, the ppl reviewing the ships are
older. Here's a point of view from young viewpoint..
I anticipated the many numerous bars/pubs, pool, and club they had to offer. I
researched the ship prior to our sailing date and also had the opportunity of my
family to fall back on. The bars were, for the most part, 1/2 full at times and
didn't give the social atmosphere that I was used to. 3.5/5 stars The pool was a
sight in itself, definitely a high point and a 2 thumbs up. Everyone loves the
pool deck so no need to comment further. 5/5 stars The nightclub was the main
disappointment. I have to refer back to the last cruise my family went on. My
uncle and cousin told stories of the club on Adventure that blew my mind. I
guess the real downside to it was that no one went! And the nights that a decent
crowd formed, they closed at 3am!! The DJ wouldn't take requests and didn't even
see the guy. All in all, we made our own fun and there were nights that it was
hopping in there. 3/5 stars
The Food: Everyone always has some negative comment about the food. So here's
mine. Note: I am not picky at all. Great service and selection, although at
times some dishes were a little too salty, but preserved it to the fullest.
<--Sarcastic. 4/5 stars
The Ports: Labadee was a good island if you like boredom in the sun. Nothing
really to do but soak in the sun, eat a buffet meal, and watch some loud
dancing. 2/5 stars **We climbed a coconut tree and had some guy at the buffet
slice it up for us. Make sure its ripe. Excellent
Jamaica: Never will I go there again. Definitely not paradise and definitely not
safe. Do not get a cab ride unless they have yellow plates. Do not go to Dunns
River Falls unless with a tour guide. Long story short, 15+ crazy Jamaicans
jumped my uncle, cousin, friend, and me in some room atop Dunns River Falls. The
cab guy, who was good, told us it was safe to see the falls from there. Almost.
1/5 stars
Grand Cayman: Beautiful, definitely walk along 7 mile beach. Hot sand and water.
Great place to visit for a couple days. Bargain with the cabbies.
5/5 stars
Cozumel: Even with the hurricane destroying most of the shorelines, still a
great time. Ppl who like to party listen up. Definitely hit up Senor Frogs and
CARLOS AND CHARLIE'S, SOO much fun there. We also rented Mopeds for $50 all day,
great way to get around and you can park it anywhere. Just past Carlos and
Charlie's is a little bar, forgot the name, that sells Coronas for $1. The
highpoint Port of this cruise.
10/5 stars
Another quick point I was to address is the fact that this cruise in particular
was more directed towards the family type and couples. Ppl who want non-stop
partying and many crazy stories, check out the Southern Caribbean. (Adventures
of the Seas).
