My husband and I were completely disheartened with Royal Caribbean. We traveled Royal Caribbean (Majesty of the Seas) in 2001 and had a marvelous, top-notch trip. We subsequently took a Carnival Cruise in 2010 and were not satisfied with their quality compared to yours. You can imagine our surprise when I insisted we travel Royal Caribbean this past week, only to be extremely disappointed. Below is a list of my concerns. Even though this cruise was 3 days, I expected 3 days of Royal Caribbean quality. I felt the ship was abandoned by corporate quality control and left to be a "junk" cruise to the Bahamas and back. For my husband and I, this cruise was a true vacation and one that we had hoped to treasure and rave about with fond memories.

Let me first say that we were impressed with room cleanliness, despite the bathroom, and the size of the room considering we had a port whole room. The room attendant was polite and responsive to our needs. The entertainment was great. We enjoyed the shows, the pool party, and reggae band. We had an especially good time at Coca Cay. The bar staff was fun and energetic. Our waiter, Nilo, was very personable, respectful, and made our dining experience fun.

I was very disappointed in the response I received from the customer service desk; I wish I had gotten his name. I expressed my concerns to him as to why my RC trip 10 years ago was so much better in quality than this trip. He said that it was because this cruise was only 3 days. What kind of response is that? I though RC quality would be RC quality regardless of length of travel. He had no response regarding the food issue except for that they can only hold so much? Again this doesn't make sense to me. Well, buyer beware is what I learned from this trip. I am sad to say that I cannot recommend this RC cruise to anyone.

As for my concerns, the food was simply bad. Overall the food was cold at every meal. The hottest item I had was an omelet which I waited 30 minutes for because there was a back up at the omelet making station (so the waiter said). Examples: shrimp cocktail was served on a plate and were small shrimp, red meat was tough regardless of the cut and was also served cold, hash browns were practically solid, glued into an inedible weaved mesh, peppercorn sauce had no visual peppercorns, salmon was steamed with no seasoning, lobster bisque was salty, French onion had no cheese on top, coffee burnt tasting, burgers sat cold and dry on a steam table all day, mushroom sauces contained one and a half mushrooms. Maybe you should offer less options but focus on quality. The head waiter dismissed our concerns by not even acknowledging what we said. Our main waiter did offer other options and I could tell he couldn't really say that we were right with our concerns. He did the best he could with what you (RC) provided him with.

The bathroom was probably most concerning. I woke up every morning to a "glub, glub" sound. Our travel partners, room 2058, actually had liquid come up through their drain under the sink. They were told it was water? Then why did the water have "things" in it. Truly this must be a health issue. The room attendant said it was normal for "water", we think was sewage, to back up into the bathroom!
