This is our first cruise and one that we had looked forward to. The reality of
the experience though left us less than satisfied.
It seems that this particular ship is in need of a major overahaul. It appears
tired and a bit rough around the edges.
The staff were generally pleasant to deal with and provided assistance when
required.
The practice of this line to seize our passport (Canadian) left us in a bit of a
foul mood. The check in staff told us we would get our passport back when we
went on board. On board we were told that we do not get it back until we leave
the ship for the last time. In the meantime when ashore all we had to prove our
status was our shipboard card and a very poor photocopy of our passport.
What was particularly annoying is that no staff member on board could explain to
us the reason for them taking our passports. On this one point they gave the
impression of having something to hide.
The food, while plentiful, certainly did not live up to the culinary standard
that we are accustomed to.
The dinning room staff were excellent and our cabin steward really quite good.
We chose too small of a cabin and the bed was not at all comfortable.
The entertainment was not at all good. We had heard of shows that were of Las
Vegas quality. The shows were at best amateur in quality.
Certainly we will cruise again but will look to either a somewhat nicer ship in
this fleet or another cruise line with more to offer.
