Overall I found this cruise to be very pleasant. I was impressed with the beauty of the vessel, stunning art work throughout. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. I never passed a staff member or officer that didn't greet me with a smile or nod. The overall layout of the ship was easy to navigate. Every elevator and stairwell has a ship display indicating fore and aft and where you were standing which helped eliminate trekking in the wrong direction looking for your state room. The ships condition seemed well maintained although here and there you see signs of age...but not glaring and obvious. I noticed the hand rails on the balconies were completely bare wood with no varnish or urethane...i thought that was curious and kind of looked bad. Other than that the ship was stunning and clean. I never found a filthy public bathroom and i noticed they constantly check them and clean them. Also...being in health care i was impressed with the ships commitment to infection control. Every dining area has a Purell hand sanitizer and if you don't take a squirt you will get one anyway from the Maitre d'.

My best take on the food is that it was average. I really cannot complain because i never went hungry..but if you are looking for high end gourmet fare (@ the price of this cruise how can you expect it?) you wont find it. First of all the dining room (nut cracker) was elegant! The food was good but not slam dunk fabulous. I had a decent steak/cooked to order but avoid choosing the steak on the alternative menu...it was tasteless and cheapish..my daughter ordered it and the waiter cheerfully exchanged it for another entree. Alejandro/Yi were wonderful and attentive. The selection of entrees were slim but I was never terribly dissappointed in the offerings. Potato gnocchi was ok but heavy...couldn't finish them. Other than that the portions were a little small but adequate..desserts were ok...average..keylime pie, creme brulee, cake, ice cream etc. We ate there every night and didn't bother with the specialty dining rooms.

We were in 6244 which was right in view of the elevators mid/fore ship. I loved the location! Try it...you never get lost looking for you room down long corridors! We had a balcony which was nice...there were 3 of us in the room and we found it a little crampy but overall not bad. It was clean/smelled unused and the bathroom was really quite nice for a ship. Be aware of the shower control...I showered all week @lukewarm because I didn't realize the little dial with the red button is a scald protector and you have to move it toward you to mix hotter water in! Hmmm...got a hot shower the last day! If you are a smoker RCCL (smarter than the rest) allows you to smoke on your balcony as long as your door is closed. I never heard anyone complain about designated smoking areas...they are all over the ship and on port-side outside. Our cabin attendant was attentive and pleasant. We had a comfortable double bed with a pull down bunk which I ended up in 2 nights of the cruise to give my daughter a break. It is accessible by ladder so if you are physically challenged...don't try it!

I found the ice show incredibly fun to watch and exciting! I have been on many cruises and have sat thru many cruise shows (begrudgingly because i find them typical and boring) but this show was awesome! Don't miss it. We also went to the Ball room dance show....not bad....nice costumes...decent singing and awesome dancing. The elderly lady next to me loved it....lots of old songs...etc.

We didn't book any excursions but opted to just get off the ship and see what happens. We are not into the usual snorkel/site see things (been there and done them many times). When you get off in Cozumel you can pick up a cab any time and go any where..Usually people just head toward "downtown" and shop. We did exactly that...beware though...Cozumel merchants hound you constantly as you approach them. They are not rude...just persistent...it just gets sort of irritating after a full afternoon of it.

Overall I would recommend this ship. It was clean/friendly and accommodating to both smokers and nonsmokers. The ice show was a big plus. The food is acceptable for the cost of this cruise! Hey you get what you pay for! Getting on and off the ship was easy! The cruise director was how I like em....not overly in your face every inch of the cruise! On deck servers did not (as many reviewers complain about) appear overly pushy!
What else can I say....it was a nice cruise...not to long..but very nice.
Happy cruising.....hope this helped! Oh by the way....the casino....no automatic dealers in blackjack...but you still cant win...dealers show tens/pictures ALL the time...it was so frustrating............good luck.
