Sovereign of the Seas Cruise Review
4-day Bahamas

Age: 40
Occupation: Teacher
Number of Cruises: 3
Sailing Date: April 3rd, 2006

We just returned today from our 3rd cruise but the first with RCI. I would give the following grades:

Embarkment: B+ Do the online pre boarding stuff. Saves a lot of time.

Room: B+ We had what they call the deluxe ocean view and it was much larger than our standard room on our last cruise (carnival). It was very clean and nice.

Food: C I liked the food but it was nothing special. I had the SAME gravy on all three dinners!!! Carnival and Norwegian had much better food.

Entertainment: B- A lot of the entertainment started too late for us 11:45 PM We saw one really good comedian.

Kid’s Program: C-- Our boys (11 and 9) didn’t enjoy it much, but the people that worked there were nice, Our kids only went one night for a few hours. Carnival offers much more for families, I think.

Casino: A- Every game we wanted (Let it Ride, $10. Blackjack, Craps) We lost lots of money but we were expecting that. It was fun and the staff friendly.

Pool: Small.

The Cruise workers were incredibly friendly.

Both port of calls were unmemorable, and expensive.

I did like the shopping in Nassau.

If you are tempted to go to the Art Auction—DON”T! I felt misled and now I feel stupid for what I bought!

Royal Caribbean seemed to “nickel and dime” you more than the other two cruise lines I’ve been on.

I hate to admit this to you, but you might find this helpful…. We brought a bottle of Rum and Vodka, champagne and wine. We also brought bottle water (VERY IMPT) and wish we would have brought Diet Coke. I brought them in my carry on and it went through the screener but no one said anything!! We didn’t drink all of it, I swear we didn’t!

Would I go on this cruise again? No It was more expensive than our carnival cruise and less family oriented. I might try another RCI ship. The boat was prettier and cleaner, but we liked the party atmosphere from the carnival. Do we regret going??? NO. (of course when our visa bill arrives we might change our minds!)

I hope this is helpful. Happy Cruising!!!!!!!
