My parents, my husband, and I left Atlanta on Saturday, July 13 at around 12 noon and arrived in Cocoa Beach, FL by 7pm. The hotel we stayed in was the Holiday Inn about 3 minutes from the beach. We ate dinner that evening at a restaurant called “The Flamingo Restaurant”. The food was exquisite; we were so impressed with the quality of both food and service! (But little did we know what awaited us on the Sovereign of the Seas!!)

The next morning we got up early, had breakfast in the hotel and went to the beach. It was much too hot for us to enjoy the beach, so we spent the rest of the morning at Ron Jon's Surf Shop buying souvenirs. That store is HUGE and a must see when visiting Port Canaveral and/or Cocoa Beach. We boarded Sovereign of the Seas at 2:30PM. Lunch was available upon boarding the ship at the Kismet Dining Room. I enjoyed the buffet style lunch, and the food was great. We were assigned to room 4579. The room was a small interior stateroom without windows, due to my fear of large open spaces. However, we'll be sure to get a larger room with windows next time. The bathroom didn't have a tub, only a shower stall, but it served its purpose. We had second seating dinner in the Gigi Dining Room at 7:30PM. We met a great family of 3 from Melbourne, FL and enjoyed their company very much. The food was THE BEST!!! The highlight of my dining experience was the escargots. Absolutely superb! I'm a total girly girl, yet I found myself sopping up the garlic sauce left from the escargots with my bread!! All of the food in the Gigi Dining Hall was SCRUMPTIOUS!!!

We docked at Coco Cay Beach on Monday, July 15. We had breakfast every morning in the Gigi Dining room. The breakfast was wonderful!! Great pastry and juice choices, and the coffee was divine! We had a great time at Coco Cay, but it was dreadfully hot. My parents spent the whole time on chairs in the shade, and my husband and I spent the whole time on beach mats in the water (not a good idea if you want to have a full day of enjoyment, because the hot sun drains one of energy quickly). The lunch at Coco Cay was pretty nice (hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob). It wasn't the best food in the world, but the music and people serving were the best. Everyone who visits Coco Cay Beach MUST try a Coco Loco drink. It was great, and comes in a souvenir bottle; my husband and I had virgin drinks, so I don't know what the alcoholic version tastes like. We missed dinner that evening, because we slept through it we were so tired!

We arrived in Nassau on Tuesday, July 16. I was not expecting it to be so beautiful! The water was crystal clear!! We did a little souvenir shopping, and went on a 2 hour van tour. The tour guide was great, and we stopped at the Ardastra Gardens Zoo which I recommend to EVERYONE!! The flamingo show is a must see! It was much too hot for us to do a lot of walking around, so we called it a day around 4pm. Our biggest regret is missing the Captain's Banquet because we were napping and got up in just enough time to make it to dinner on time. We'll be sure to attend The Captain's Banquet on our next cruise with Royal Caribbean.

Wednesday, July 17, was The Day at Sea and it was tough for me, because I knew it was the last full day on the ship. I did a little exercising in the fitness center on one of the upper decks, and enjoyed the music and activities poolside on the 10th deck. I actually got emotional during the "Farewell Performance" in the Follies Lounge because the crew of Sovereign of the Seas were magnificent, and I had grown attached to them in that short amount of time!

I recommend the Sovereign of the Seas Bahamas Cruise to everyone. We are already in the planning stages of next year's family cruise!!
