Vision of the Seas Cruise Review

Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean
Ship: Vision of the Seas
Sailing Date: February 22nd, 2004
Itinerary: Mexican Riviera

I have been on previous cruises but this was the first cruise I went on with my husband. In all fairness, I am breaking this review down by the pros and cons to be the most fair.

Pros - The food was terrific. The Europpean desserts were fantastic and the dinners were outstanding. I did not care for the eggs or breakfast food as much but I was always happy eating a Belgian Waffle. It seemed that all I did on this cruise was eat! The pace was slow, in fact too slow. I had left my toddler at home and really wished I had brought him since the vacation was a very slow pace. There just was not enough activities.

I love to dance and we went with another couple. However, the dancing never started until midnight and by then, I was too tired. I really felt the ship should have began the entertainment (dancing) immediately after the first dinner. This ship was beautiful but much smaller than other ships I had been on. I felt every wave compared to previous cruises where I felt nothing. The rooms and the beds were so comfortable, I never slept so well on a vacation. The entertainment I did enjoy was a female singer who played the piano after dinner, she was so talented. The exercise room was tiny and found it impossible to get a treadmill between the hours of 6-10AM. After this cruise, I really am not wanting to go on another cruise for a long time. I was very disappointed with the Viking Lounge entertainment. Every night I would walk into the dance place at 10:30PM hearing tunes of Sade and the DJ not prepared to begin until midnight. If you are into Bingo, and you really do want a very SLOW vacation, I do recommend this cruise, the ship is beautiful and food great. Even the staterooms are roomy enough. You can almost always find an empty hottub which I thought was amazing with so many people. If you enjoy dancing and nightlife and if you can stay up until 2AM, that is great. I do recommend sweatshirts and a jacket for the windy weather going back to LA. Happy Sailing...
