Ship: Voyager of the Seas
Sailing Date: February 3rd, 2002
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

We drove to Miami from Montreal with our friends Elaine and Tommy. We wanted to avoid the plane ($$$) and arrive a day earlier. We had booked a hotel in South Beach for Saturday night. We walked on South Beach where there are restaurants and stores and a lot of wild and rich people!! We woke up the next morning, very excited to go on the ship, we had breakfast and drove to the Port (10 minute drive from our hotel). We left the car at the Port, 10$ US per day. We were very much in advance so it wasn't long before we got on the ship. We went to the buffet right away, got to our cabin, changed into our bathing suits (that were in our carry on bag), went on the pool deck to relax for the whole afternoon. Than we went in the dining room to see where we would be sitting, and how many people would be at our table. The Voyager started to move around 5:30 pm. It was great to see all the people stopping their cars to look at the ships leaving Miami, and to see all those big houses!!

By the time we got back to our room to change for dinner, our luggage was already in front of our cabin. We were sitting with two other couples at our table. Both American couples, who were very nice, we had a great time at dinner all week. My boyfriend and I were amazed to be treated as king and queen! It was our friends' 3rd cruise. They had sailed twice with Carnival. So they were always comparing Carnival with Royal Caribbean, but we didn't mind.

The Ship is very beautiful, very big, but not crowded, on the contrary! We were always wondering where everybody was! There is something to do for everyone. I don't think it's possible to go everywhere and do everything that there is to do in one week! Even if we had 2 days at sea.

Labadee was very beautiful, we stayed on the beach all day, and went shopping at the flee market.

Ocho Rios was nice, we went to Dunn's River falls. Although I don't remember actually seeing the falls because I was so concentrated on holding hands and not falling in the falls!! I did not like holding everybody's hands by the way. And we got a little scared when we realized that our taxi had already left for the Ship with the other people that drove with us to the falls. Another guy told us he wouldn't be coming back, but we had already payed, so we were kind of pissed! But he came back and thought it was very funny that we were worried! My friends and my boyfriend went shopping after but I decided I was gonna stay at the ship, relaxing by the pool.

Grand Cayman was beautiful, I had never seen water so clear! We took a taxi to the 7 mile beach and stayed on the beach all day. 5$ to enter the beach, 5$ a chair, 10$ a matriss (very worth it) and 5$ for an umbrella (also recommand it) we got chairs free, because people from another cruise line left early and gave us their chairs! My boyfriend went sky diving with a boat that charged 45$ instead of 65$. He loved it.

Cozumel, loved it, we booked with the Ship this time, 41$/person, Catamaran ride with snorkel and 1 hour at the beach (beer and Margaritas included) The Mexicans were very funny and party people! We were dancing and having a great time! Than we took a taxi to the city to go shopping, nothing really special though.

The food at the ship was very good. I recommand everybody to go to Johnny Rockets, even if there is a big waiting line, it goes fast.

The only thing we thought they could improve on is having the free drinks closer to the pool (Ice tea and lemonade) because they are inside at the very end of the buffet restaurant, so you have to get dressed to go get something to drink or to eat. Our friends told us that with Carnival's Destiny, the hamburgers, pizza and drinks were outside, close to the pools, so they could just walk up to get food.

We did not try the paying restaurant, we did not think it was worth it to pay 20$ when you have great food at the dining room! They have a midnight buffet only once during the week, and we were too tired to go!!

The shows were great, it's sad that you can't take pictures because I would have liked to show everybody what it was like! Especially the ice show!

My boyfriend proposed on Captain's night, and we are getting married January 31st, 2004, and booked with Princess cruise line, (Dawn Princess) Southern Caribbean, and this time we will fly because we are leaving from San Juan! It will be different to have a smaller ship, since the Voyager is the biggest!

We recommend it to everyone!
