Itinerary: Western Mediterranean
The cruise staff were excellent throughout the holiday with nothing being too much trouble. We booked the holiday 7 days in advance of the departure date and we felt it was an absolute steal for the price we paid for a main deck cabin (albeit inside). We opted for the all inclusive drinks package at 119 GB pounds each which was a good decision as our bar tab for the week was around 300 GB pounds. The fee covered all local type drinks and an upgrade to superior type spirits added 79 pence to the bill. House Brandy, Vodka, Rum was 2.10GBp, San Miguel and Boddingtons was 2.05GBp per pint. House white and Red wine (very palatable) was 2.0 GB p per glass. We would say that if all the tours were taken it would be a "challenge" to recoup your investment.
The tour itinerary was excellent with stops at La Goulette (for Tunis North Africa), Civitavecchia (for Rome), Livorno (for Florence), Villefrance (for Nice, Monaco & Monte Carlo), Barcelona, and a return to Palma on the Friday evening. We took the Jewels of the cote D'azur visiting Nice, Eze, and Monte Carlo with stops on the grand prix circuit and visits to the casino and surroundings which was a great day. On the Friday we took the sporting trip to the Nou Camp and surrounding area up to Mount Juic and the Olympic stadium home of the '92 Olympics, again, a great trip. The organization for the trips was excellent led by very knowledgeable tour guides who were very well versed on the subject matter and were extremely friendly at all times.
The food on board was excellent with a great choice of flavors, location, and quantity. If you want "killing with kindness" this is the trip for you! After 7 days we were ready to wave the white flag in submission as the weight gain was beginning to tell.
If you are looking for a first Cruise experience, with value for money, a great time, great company, great food and drink where you can be looked after from dawn 'till dusk, then this is for you.
Would we go back - definitely Yes, however, we would
go for an outside cabin. We felt that the onboard photographs were expensive at
around 9.99 and 14.99 each and there are plenty taken during the trip however,
the choice is yours and there is no pressure to purchase. Overall it's a relaxed
and in the main informal cruise with the opportunity to get the Tux and Cocktail
dress on for two occasions if you so desire. Around 30% dressed for the occasion
which was great. Overall 10/10 and we will go back.
