Itinerary: rhine getaway

We were probably the youngest couple on the Helvetia recently, but that didn't matter and we did expect most fellow travelers to be older (and wiser). We quickly hooked up with other couples in our age group.
The ship is very nicely appointed and our cabin, for our first cruise, was grander that we expected. We booked only a month prior and got a half price deal and didn't have too much time to research anything and wanted to leave it all in someone else's hands. The cruise line did very well with that and gave explicit descriptios if an excursion was hilly or lengthy for those with limited abilities.. They were not very clear on what each of the extra $$$ cost excusions would entail. I offer a word of caution before signing up for anything other than what is included in the cruise price. We wanted to back out of two of them and paid dearly for that.
Food was good and regional, but not excessive or readily available after meal hours.
Soft drinks should be included for $4,000. USC and an exercisroom/mini gym would have been greatly appreciated as well as hair conditoner with the toiletries. Towel, linens and duvets were luxurious and fluffy.
The crew was professional and mostly Geman, therefore well versed about their homeland.
We never even knew when the ship was asail as it was so smooth, hence the term
"smooth sailing", I guess. I would recommend this ship and trip.

good and satisfying. German and a little French.
Coffee is most definitely European not American.
Presentation was top shelf.

New, clean, comfy, even though we were in the lower deck.
Would have liked a full lenght mirror.

not enough to pass comment on

The WW II excursion was given by a very friendly, well versed New Zealander, Malcolm. It was quite educational. The subject is never broached by the young German crew.
