This is a future cruise--it will be our third on Viking. We travelled to China and Paris/Normandy previously. While the cruises are great once you get there--plane reservation planning is awful. For this trip which begins in Amsterdam, Viking has us flying to Zurich for 7+ hours, 1 1/2 hour layover, then 1 1/2 hour flight to Amsterdam.
We leave NYC-JFK at 4AM Zurich time and arrive at the ship at about 5PM Zurich time. This negates any opportunity to spend the the afternoon walking around Amsterdam--indeed the itinerary says "visit the Anne Frank House" --when exactly would one do that.
On each of the other cruises, plane reservations were awful, but I was able to call and they were fixed--this time, Viking wants $50 a piece to talk about change and clearly says there may be additional extra cost. So I cancelled the post trip to Lucerne--costing them $1100+ in revenue to see if Viking would get my message. I pay in full early and receive no benefit.
Will do when I go.
