Wind Star Cruise Review
Southern Caribbean

Bob Skerker

Age: 52
Occupation: Executive
Number of Cruises: 5

We have traveled on Windstar and her sister ships 4 times twice in the caribbean, once in Europe and this cruise. The ship is showing its age. Not that effort isn't made to keep it up but I think its decline is accelerating. Little things they could do to spruce up the ship like replacing the deck cushions have not been done. Our biggest complaint was about the air conditioning which in our room and the one we moved to intolerable. We complained several times and they tried to fix it but alas 11 days later it was still not working.

The crew as always was pleasant and interesting and the guests were the the usual assortment of interesting and overbearing. There are many people on this ship you wouldn't want to be friends with and others you wish you could spend more time with. We were disappointed in the food a little on this cruise not up to Windstar's usual standards. Although Holland America has a no tipping policy, the crew expects tips. They work very hard and work even harder to make sure you want to give them something at the end of the cruise.

Following our air conditioning (or lack of it) experience and a round of letters with Windstar, this was our last Windstar cruise even though they offered us a substantial discount on a subsequent voyage. What they didn't offer was an adequate apology and how they would insure it wouldn't happen again since we know it has happened on other trips too.
