Hi, of course you can rent a car on your own but as you said is quite expensive, around € 100.00 all inclusive. An affordable private driver and tour guide company car is amalficar. The best would it be, if you can drive a scooter , driving along the coast and stops wherever you like , sure less expensive, I advise you a lovely Vespa.
