The Port of New Orleans is building a new terminal with attached parking lot (Erato Street Terminal). Information can be found at www.portno.com. I received an email from them saying the new terminal and parking lot will be completed for the first sailing after Katrina, which is Oct. 15.

This construction project began long before Katrina and while in progress, the terminals used commercial parking lots nearby. I used them several times and had no problems so there is still a "backup" plan for parking should the new terminal not be completed. They are manned 24 hrs per day and also provide shuttle service. Maps are available on the Port of N.O. website.

Just an addeded comment...there was nothing wrong with the "old" terminal building other than they were small and outdated. The new one should provide a better embarkation process.

Hope this answers your question.
