A good map of Rome is essential if you want to find your way around. You can see the Vatican, St. Angelos castle, Campa del Fiori, the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, and the Spanish steps in a relatively short walk if you follow the correct route. If you want to see the inside of the Sistine Chapel, my advide would be to arrive very early as the line can easily wrap around two blocks very quickly.
