Heck .. sounds like a good deal to me. Never have taken a train (long distance) before. If you can deal with a 12 hour train ride versus a 1 hour plane trip, then I say go for it. Your correct about the bag fees. You can count on adding $100 to the air fare if you bring a couple of suitcases.
