All ships have security personnel. They do have small arms onboard if necessary. They also have a brig and a morgue if the need arises. If things get really bad, they summon the axe wielding, chainsaw guy who does the ice carvings. In all seriousness, you will see lots of horseplay on a cruise, but, rarely, does anything get out of hand. Of course, on Carnival, the offenders somehow always end up going over the rail. Some Caribbean ports are worse than others. Just use good judgment and common sense and you should be fine. You are an asset to their economy and MOST go out of their way to make you feel safe and welcome. Please note the emphasis that I placed on most. It was intentional.
