That brings back a memory. When the Harley craze of the mid 1990's was going strong in the U.S. you couldn't find new bikes in showrooms. They were ordered and often there was a 6 month wait, plus they were putting outrageous premium prices on them.
There was a Harley dealer at Havensight in Charlotte Amalie. I dropped by to get a couple of t-shirts and chatted with the owner. I asked if they had problems filling orders. "Oh no. Our distributor is on St. Martin and they have plenty of inventory. Order a bike today and it'll arrive by boat in two days or less." They were also selling them for MSRP. She told me she'd even ship it to Alabama if I was really interested.
