FYI: Just thought I would update my own question: only 6 days to go till we sail! Just checked the on-line excursions (wanted to see how full they were) and there was a lock-out for the shore excursions. They close the shore excursions on-line reservations 7 days before sailing.
PS: I have checked them off and on during the past month, and the Alaska shore excursions that were the first to fill up were the horseback riding and the helicopters.
