Megs, I am sure it is hard to think of cruising solo. But I cruised solo at least a dozen times, and for me, it was a great get-a-way. I have a stressful job, and escaping to a cruise is such a joy. I work with a great agent and as a solo I had greater flexibility. Most cruises need to be paid 60-90 days ahead, and at that time discounts are to be had !! The premium almost disappeared in some cases...

The best part was all the great people I met along the way, folks tend to "adopt" solo cruisers, if you attend a couple of events that appeal to you, you are likely to find others there of like mind. It has always been my opinion that even on ships now with 2000+ passengers, I see and talk to the same 20-30 people all the time, because we have likes and dislikes in common, schedules (daytime or nighttime people).

I like poormom's idea of using the social networking sites, depending on the cruise line you choose, some still have gentlemen who are there to dance with ladies, if that is your thing. It can be done Megs !
