We're a couple and I can't speak speciacally for the Paradise, but in general, if you are no satisfied with a tablemate, just asked to be changed. It they can accomodate you, they will. As far as going on your own, I would say no. We've had situations on more than 1 occasion that we weren't even safe with a couple. We always take a ship shore excursion.
