In St. Thomas take the ferry to St. John and a cab to Trunk Bay. There is a self-guided snorkel trail about 50 yards from the beach. The beach is one of the top ten beaches in the world with all the ammenities necessary. The water is crystal clear, warm and calm (unless there's a storm). Or take a catamaran sail/snorkel from St. Thomas. On our snorkel trip in Antigua we ran into way too many jelly fish for me to enjoy it. Scott Taylor has quite a few posts about Pineapple Beach, they spent the day there and really enjoyed it. The snorkeling in St. Maarten isn't that great, so don't spend money on it there. We did a catamaran sail/snorkel the 2 times we were in Tortola through the ship (we were on Princess). Both of them went over around Norman's Island and they were good. We always do the Tiami sail/snorkel catamaran tour in Barbados. They take you to a snorkel with the turtles, then a nice beach. The catamarans are beautiful and the crews are fun. Have a wonderful cruise!!
