Talking Conquest review
Hey fellow cruisers! Just returned from 7 day Western Caribbean on the Conquest. Wife and I had a fabulous cruise, so here is my review.

Parking: we parked at EZ Cruise parking in Galveston for $50 with prepaid reservations. We arrived around 10:45 a.m. and the bus was just getting ready to load up a group to take to the pier. Very nice people and very well organized.

Embarkation: we arrived at the pier around 11:00 a.m. and after the porters took our luggage, we began the boarding process. This was the fastest and most organized we have seen. We were thru the lines and on the ship at 12:10 p.m. and headed to the Lido for lunch!

Cabin/room steward: we stayed on Main in room 2-315 ocean view on the starboard side and loved this room. We liked the larger room with a great view. Our steward was Ed Mark and he was great! He always kept our room clean and supplied with ice, etc.

Dining: We ate all our breakfasts in the Monet except for one day at the buffet, since we had an early excursion. Everything was served hot and fresh as ordered. We ate lunch all over the & chips, buffet, sit down restaurant, deli, Mongolian stir fry....all of it was good, but the deli and Mongolian was the best. We chose early dining at 6:00 p.m. for dinner and ate in the Monet Dining room which is aft. We had a booth for 4 and had a very nice couple that were seasoned travelers, so we had a great time visiting. ALL the meals were great! Our head waiter was Antonio and he was super, as well as his assistant waiters. We loved every dish. Appetizers were larger than on the Ecstacy, and the main course and desserts were fabulous!

Entertainment: the shows were all very good, but I think the Legends show the last night was the highlight. Our cruise had some very, very talented cruisers who could really sing and dance. They all had the audience overwhelmed.

Overall ship: the Conquest is in great shape all around. Very well maintained and clean as a whistle. The only thing was the smoking areas seemed to drift out into the public areas a lot. You smelled smoke a long way from the casino and the bars were almost always smokey, so we kept out of there. The twister slide and miniature gold were closed several days due to high winds. We had some rough sea days with swells 7.5 - 12 feet (accoding to the report from the bridge),but we never felt sick at all since we took Bonine (meclazine).

Debarkation: Wow - what can I say. This was the fastest and smoothest ever! We docked at Galveston around 7:30 a.m. and Customs cleared the ship around 8:00 a.m. The self-assist cruisers started getting off the ship and then they began calling the section numbers for everyone else around 8:30 a.m. We were way down the list (25 out of 35) but at 9:25 a.m. they said everyone could disembark regardless of number. We were out of the building and on the shuttle and to our car by 9:45 a.m. This was great!

Ports of call: I will post this review on the "ports of call" section of the forum.

So, wife and I truly enjoyed our cruise to celebrate or 35 anniversary and give everything 5 stars!!!!! Can't wait to book another cruise, but we have to wait a couple of years due to aging parents.
