Did you ever use your iPhone on a cruise?

I am thinking about some sort of cellphone/Internet capable device to bring along with me during one of my future cruises. My laptop maybe too big/bulky to bring along.

I have used the Internet cafe onboard the cruise ships. But they were really expensive. I thought it would be better just to use my device to compose an email message; maybe attach a photo or two. Then I would quickly log on to the ship's wireless network, send the email(s), check for any new emails, then quicky log-off.

Has anyone done something similar to that while on a cruise?
