Dave......Now I recognize the bird, It was a DC-3s variant of the C-47 with a modified wing, larger engines and modifed tail and new gear doors. She was good for a 35-40 knot increase in speed. I rememberber seeing some at Okinawa...I thought they were Navy Birds and I heard them called R4D8s.....the Designator c-117 was new to me....shows to go...you can learn something new everyday of Your Life.....Thank You!!
I Wonder if any of them are still airworthy...they are truly rare birds!
