We then had lunch on in the shopping area. There is a beach off there, with chairs & umbrellas for rent if you want. In Barbados, we went snorkeling with the sea turtles then had beach time. Beautiful waters and beach. In Martinique, we did a tour to see where the volcano exploded, stopped at a wonderful church and spent time exploring one of the best botanical gardens we've ever seen. Lovely, lovely island. We just did some exploring around Castries in St Lucia, but tablemates loved the excursion to Soufriere. Can't say much about formal nights - -we've done so many, it's just another dinner in the dining room. However, it is a great opportunity to dress up and get great photos. The dinners are also special those nights. You should have three formal nights on the 11 day cruise. As I said, the Noordam is lovely - as are all HAL ships - and the service is impeccable. I hope you enjoy sailing HAL as much as we do.
Thank you for your post. We have sailed often with HAL but this is the first time on the Noordam. I have arranged excursions with "Getyourguide" on 4 of the Islands. This is a site you should visit if you cruise often. They arrange tours all over the world at one half to one third ship line pricing. I have arranged some other ship excursions like Americas Cup Regatta in St. Maarten and a Whale & Dolphin Safari in Dominica. Your info is helpful for the other planning that I need to do. My wife and I love the formal nights and we dress up. I know they are usually on sea days, probably the second sea day out of port and ther last sea day before Half moon Key, but the middle one on this trip is questionable. I think it will be in Barbados but not certain. Have fun on the Maasdam it is a nice ship. A little smaller than the Vista class ships of HAL.
