My first thought was how can you even begin to compare a hotel points program with a cruise line loyalty program. Especially a casino hotel. A casino hotel will practically give their rooms away to get someone in to gamble. They practically give them back the amount they pay in food credits, spa credits, etc. So two people share this cheap room price for XXX amount of dollars. They earn their points for these cheap rooms, which they get most of it back in food credits. Then those points are suppose to transfer over into benefits on a Royal Caribbean cruise where loyal cruisers have paid big bucks to earn those same benefits? Maybe I'm not understanding this new program very well. But I just don't think the amount of money spent for someone to reach a Diamond level with a hotel program is anywhere near the amount spent to reach a Diamond level with RCI. RCI is getting desperate to convert landlubbers to cruisers.
