Well, I wasn't going to say it but since you brought it up, I always encourage new cruisers to use a travel agent who specializes in cruises. You just don't know all the details when you do it yourself directly, and as you learned, the cruise line isn't going to educate you on things.
I have been cruising for over 20 years and still use a cruise specialist to make my bookings.
I'm going to have to get our technical people involved on this 'by' issue.
