Carnival announced several itinerary changes a month or so ago that will take effect in 2014. Many of these are from southern Florida, and there will also be two ships out of New Orleans.
Here is the press release
in which the new itineraries are announced. There is one Southern Caribbean itinerary among them that goes to Aruba and Curacao, but from Florida, not Puerto Rico.
I have mixed feelings about this. There are more itineraries for those who can get to the southeast USA easily, but both Boston and Baltimore have been abandoned. I was hoping to do a cruise on Carnival Glory out of Boston next year, yet the line pulled out due to environmental provisions that are to take effect in 2015. It's maddening as several other lines are in the process of making changes that will enable them to comply with the upcoming regulations.
I agree that having a wide variety of itineraries is nice, but that doesn't seem to be in Carnival's business model.
