Yes, you receive a credit. Any regularly scheduled cruise of 3 nights or longer will get at least one cruise credit, and two credits if you book a suite - even in a 3 or 4 night cruise.
In fact I took a 3 night cruise last summer - by myself - just to get the one credit I needed to make diamond level with RCI.
