Do you have the option of a stop on a glacier with a plane? I would guess it lands/takes off from a runway/field someplace smooth, and not on the glacier. When we were in Juneau, our plane excursion was cancelled due to bad weather in the area where we were going. So, we were able to get on a helicopter to land on Mendenhall glacier. The glacier is extremely uneven and jagged. So that is why I was saying I didn't think a plane could land right on the glacier, unlike a helicopter. I personally would choose a helicopter, I think it would be more flexible in where it can land, and also flying lower to avoid the weather. These are my thoughts.
