I believe I heard that all cell phones work now as the ships have cell towers. I may be wrong but you may find some info on the Princess cruise web site.

Cell phone service is not universal on Princess--yet. It all depends on the location and your service.

Is it universal now on Holland America do you know? We aren't going until 2008 though.

The correct answer depends on your cell provider. Some offer a program that will allow you to keep service via satelite but with some pretty serious roaming charges. Check with your cell provider to find out if it's available to you and the costs involved.

I heard that they were placing cell towers on all the ships so you would be able to call from anywhere. I have a national calling plan but found out the hard way that doesnt cover Vancouver, BC. One you leave for Vancouver dont use your cell until you reach Alaska territory.
