Can someone please advise me on which excursion is the best one. I'm sooo confused. Thanks

Not exactly sure what you mean; there is only one rail excursion in Skagway--the White Pass. You can either take the train round trip; or the train one-way and some other way back (bus, bike, etx.).
You can book it through your cruise or on your own.
If you would like more help you can ask more specific questions.

Terry, check first to see which excursions the cruise line is offering for your specific cruise. You may not have all options available to you if your time in the port is a bit short. As f-mattox said, it's only one train, but there are several ways you can take it: one-way, with a bus return; roundtrip on the train, or combined with a longer excursion into Canada, also often including gold panning and other activities. If your specific sailing offers all of these, then you can opt for any of them, depending on your interest. You will take a slightly different route back by bus, less scenic I believe; if you choose roundtrip on the train, you'll see the same scenery but from a different direction (which can make it look very different), but you will just go to the top of the Pass, turn around and come back. If the activities involved with the longer excursion are of interest to you, and the cruise you are on offers this one, then go for it. (If it is not offered, you may not be in port long enough to take it.)

It's a spectacular ride, whichever of the options you choose - I do recommend it. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

P.S. If you choose the one into Canada, you should take your passport(s) with you. They may not be required, but it would be a good idea to have them along anyway (or at least a xerox copy of the front pages of them.)

We took a train from Anchorage 6:00 am to Seward and back at 11:00 pm. It was awesome...not sure your time frame?

I agree to check first what is being offered by the cruise line, check the times you are in Skagway, and then look at what the tours include. One only goes to the Summit and back and others go to Carcross with a bus return. You can go to Fraser Station and then do some gold panning/meal, etc. If you want to see the most scenery I'd say one of the train/bus trips that go to Carcross either directly or stopping at Bennet would be an ideal choice.

Here are several links where you can see pictures and a map of where the train goes and where the road is.
