hi,
I'm planning to go to Alaska and have a whole sea experience including some kayaking time I've read kayaking in Alaska here that it is better to come in early season.

Love to hear how I can set the dates to do both things

Hi Roberta2 and welcome to Cruise Chat.

We kayaked in Juneau in July, on an excursion purchased through the cruise line. It was a terrific time to kayak, within sight of Mendenhall Glacier, with seals playing in the waters around us.

I've been suggesting that the earlier dates (May, June, early July) are a bit better, but only for purposes of reliable weather. After Mid to late July, the wind can begin to pick up a bit, and the calm sea conditions needed for a great kayak trip aren't as easy to predict.

As far as wildlife goes, any time is a great time... If you're out in July or early August, keep your eyes open for deer roaming the beaches at low tide. Otherwise, whales, seals, sea lions, eagles, etc. are out all the time...

Happy Alaska Travels!

That video is a part of a PowerAde commercial. Totally fake, and not in any way representative of any kayaking experience in Alaska. I've spent 1000's of hours with orcas and humpbacks, and they just don't do that sort of thing... they know where we are better than we know where they are.
