Will we need to bring heavy coats for our upcoming cruise to the inside passage? Our ports are Juneau, Skagway & Icy Strait Point. We're leaving June 7th.
Confused as to if we should bring winter or summer clothes?? I know to bring rain gear and to dress in layers. That's why I like going to the Caribbean..it's easier to pack for. Now with the airlines limiting your checked luggage, it's going to be real fun packing. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...s/icon_eek.gif |
We went mid June. The heaviest coat I needed, I bought in the first port. Basically a fleece lined raincoat. Most of the weather we encountered was in the 50's. But the week before they were seeing upper 70's. So I am sure you can see a wide range of temps. And yes it rains a lot. The area is considered to be rain forrest.
You shouldn't need shorts, the ship will be warm. So pack some sweaters and such and you will be fine. |
We were there in mid August one year & I can't remember being cold- just cool.
This year we'll be there at the end of June & we'll again just be taking a sweat shirt, light jacket & a light rain jacket. (And of course shorts) |
Was there last July and do not recall being cold the entire time. Just think "layering" and do not worry about a heavy coat.
Have a great time and let us know how you liked the cruise when you return. |
You shouldn't need a heavy coat in June. Just a spring jacket that you can wear a sweater under if it is cool. EVen in early May, I found my spring raincoat with a sweater and long sleeve t-shirt was plenty warm enough. Take a mix of spring and summer clothes.
