My husband and I are cruising to Alaska in late May and I am very interested in wildlife and birding. I'm thinking of booking shore excursions independently since the Celebrity excursions seem too generalized for my interests. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'm looking at Fish 'n' Fly Charters Pack Creek Bear Tour from Juneau, as well as perhaps renting a car to visit the Mendenhall WLR for birding. Can I do both in one day? In Skagway, I'm thinking of going to Haines and the Chilkat Valley (Alaska Nature Tours). Any suggestions for Ketchican? And what about Icy Point Strait? It seems to be a good place for marine mammals. Any birders out there? Any ideas or experiences will be appreciated. Thanks!
