evening attire in alaska

Hi everyone, I am getting ready and very excited about my first Alaska cruise this summer. Quick question for those of you who have done this trip. On other cruises, warmer climates, I have packed sun dress, light skirts and sleevless gowns for dinner. Is that still appropriate being that I am sailing in the summer BUT in cooler atmosphere? Any advise is appreciated! Karen

That's a tough one - - the weather in Alaska is so variable. If you prefer wearing dresses to dinner (which is what I do) - I would suggest something a little more substantial than a sun dress. And you'll want a sweater or wrap - it can get cool around the ship and decks at night.
