Question Whittier/Anchorage late flight
We are sailing on the Diamond Princess in July northbound and our flight out of Anchorage is not until 11:48pm. My questions are:

1. Can you check your luggage in at the pier so you don't have to take it along for a tour etc....

2. If we take the train back to Anchorage, how do we get to the airport.

3. Suggestions for what to do for the day??

Have thought of maybe PWS cruise and train back, renting a car in Whittier, renting a car in Anchorage, etc.... HELP!

Not sure what cruise line or airline you're flying, but check with your cruise line to see if they have a "luggage valet" type of service. For a fee, they will take your luggage to the airport and check it. Example on Royal Caribbean, this service is offered for something like $20, plus baggage fees for your airline.

The Princess website has a pdf file for the port of Whittier that lists 'short term' luggage storage but I believe that is for people starting a cruise there and not for debarked passengers. The file doesn't say one way or the other. Many tour operators will store your luggage for you, or obviously take it along for the ride.

The train depot in Anchorage is about 15 minutes from the airport. Taxis and shuttles are available at the train depot. A taxi will be around $20.
