I would like to know if it is best to take the train up and the bus down or just take the train both ways? Is there an advantage to taking the bus, are the sites much different? Also, are there restroom facilities on the train or available at the summit before you return? Any help would be appreciated. We are ready to finalize our excursions. Thanks.

We took the train up and the bus down. We did see different things. Plus, our bus stopped at Liarsville and we had a delicious meal. I suppose it depends on what excursions your cruise line offers. We were on a Princess cruise. We enjoyed the change of scenery between the train trip and the bus trip.
Yes, there are restroom facilities on the train. Nadine |

I did the train up and back last time and doing it again in May. It is a fabulous trip.

We took the bus up. Had a lunch of BBQ Chicken and some great homemade ice cream. Then rode the train down. Wonderful day

Thanks for the info. We decided to do the bus one way and train the other. We are really getting excited. We leave in about 7 weeks.

I believe there is a restroom on each car. Don't forget your passport as you will cross over to Yukon Territory on the way up and they did check ours. We were there in June and there was still snow on the summit. Have fun and ENJOY

We are on an Alaska the end of June. Did you book the train and bus trip with the cruise line or on your own? Holland America charges about $250 for the excursion!
thanks John |
