Ketchikan Excursions

Can anyone offer any advice on which tour would be better for 1st time cruisers to Alaska - the Saxman Totem Poles or the Duck tour?

Just returned from Alaska. In Ketchikan we had limited time and took the Totem Bight Park excursion. Guide was a charming young Native American college student. It was fascinating and beautiful. We were able to buy a beautiful totem and got the story behind it as well. Also included short bus tour of town. Saw the Duck Tour boat; weird thing is that you descended backwards down a ladder when it was over. Glad I rode a bus! I would highly recommend anything with totem poles; they are beautiful and fascinating.

Been there 3 times now and always do something rather than the duck boats...The Totem village is wonderful and the totem museum is very nice too....We watched one of the craftsmen working on a reproduction of one of the older totems...Very interesting....So, if you don't go fishing:-)...do the Totems...I'm going back again for the 4th time and just maybe this time I will do the Ducks...:-)
