May or September?

Opinion please...is May or Sept. better?

Wildlife?

Weather?

Crowds?

Pros and Cons of both. May is better for seeing the new born babies. Weather can be cooler. However; weather can be cooler in September too. For that matter weather in Alaska is just down right finicky. I was just there June 11-18th and it was only in 50's, overcast, but didn't rain but one day. Crowds will be lower in September after Labor Day.

The only downside to September that I've found is the days are getting shorter--not as much twilight--so your viewing time is getting shorter. June 21st is the longest day, so the further away you are either before or after, the shorter the days.

Given a choice, I would go in May.

Weather, flip a coin.
May and September will not be crowed. It is my understanding some of the tourist shops began to fun low on stuff in September, at least that is what my Uncle said.
My Uncle went in September and saw lots of wild life. He was taking tours designed to see wild life.
Any month you go will offer something, just book and enjoy.

I've been there in May, June and September...

I like May much better....There is still plenty of snow on the mountains, easier to see wildlife, very few kids on the ship, and the weather can be a factor, but just bring warm clothing....I hate snow, being from Minnesota, but in Alaska, Snow is beautiful...I'm going back to Alaska on the NCL Pearl next May...come on with....Happy sailing...

Thanks all. Sounds like a win-win either way.

But that is easy right? Cruisin' ain't workin'!

We did Sept. and it was great, but I think we will try May next time just so I can be an 'expert' on both!
