How exciting to be cruising to Alaska!

You've already described all the issues. My suggestion is to not worry about washing the jeans before the land tour. If they get really dirty on the cruise, spring for the $3.50. I don't see any alternative.

Welcome to cruise-chat, and congratulations on your upcoming cruise to Alaska!

I agree with Sandy. The less you pack, the better, especially with the baggage fees now imposed by most airlines. Jeans take up a lot of space...and weight.

Unless you want to spend time finding a laundromat in one of the ports, you have no other options other than hand washing in your cabin or using the ship's laundry service. They do offer a "one bag" special on the cruises, where everything you can fit in their bag get washed for a flat fee. Probably won't be cost effective for jeans though.

There is a self-service laundromat a few blocks from the dock in Ketchikan; but is the time it would take to wash, and especially dry several pair of jeans really worth it? My gosh! You're in Alaska! And how dirty could they get on a cruise?

I would spring for the service myself. Why spend your time in Alaska trying to save a few buck, or as Rick said, how dirty can they be. Wear them and enjoy the cruise.
