Hello !

We are preparing ourselves to book a south american cruise in January 2007. (7-10 days) I'd like to find out what is the age mix of the people on those cruises (young / 40's / 50's retired) and if anyone went one one, which one and was it good?

Anyone has anything to suggest?

It may depend on the cruiseline the age mix.
Depends on what you are looking for.
If you want port intensive, no formal nights, good food, no vegas style shows, no kids try Oceania.

If you want more entertainment and formal nights
I have heard HAL is good.

As you can see by my cruise ticker, I'm doing the Rotterdam on 12/6/06 (16 days) Valparaiso to Rio. I happen to like HAL.

What part of South America are you considering? I don't think you will find many choices under 10 nights, particularly if you plan to round the Cape and pass through the Straits of Magellan. I did a Buenos Aires to Santiago cruise on NCL (14 nights) and then a 12 night cruise on Celebrity round trip from Buenos Aires for Carnival in Rio. In both cases the age range of passengers varied greatly (everything from 30-80). The trip during Carnival was younger overall, with lots of multigenerational families from Chile and Argentina. I know Tom did an Amazon River cruise on Oceania and was convinced he was the youngest person on the cruise (and he's a baby boomer).

I am not quite sure where I want to go... I know that Costa offers some 7 days cruises to South America, but then again, I had a pretty bad experience with them last year, so I am scared of the age mix I will find.. I have a cruise credit to use with them maybe ill use it for a mediterranean cruise...

Anyone knows anoyne that went on South american cuise with Costa? I need to read about it... Any bits and pieces of information I can gather would be great...

I saw the Rotterdam in Curacao and in Aruba two years ago, while I was on the Adventure, it was doing the panama canal itinerary... It's a nice ship... Not really my style though.. I met the Spa Manager on a island tour in Aruba she was british.. Very nice lady married to the captain assistant) Be sure to go visit the spa!!!

You might find a review at http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/...ruiseLineID=45

You need to check each ship to see the reviews
