We are taking an Eastern Caribbean cruise on Costa Magica in Jan 07. I have heard pros and cons on this line. I have been on 14 cruises but never on Costa. I would love any information from anyone who has been on this line or better yet this ship http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

I did three cruises on Costa ships: Mediterranea, Magica and Classica. I learned to line Costa ships. My favorite is Cosa Med. Costa Magica is OK.
Regards
Uwe

If you have sailed with Carnival on any of the Destiny or Conquest Class ships, then the Costa Magica will feel right at home. The Magica is esentially a Destiny Class Ship, with minor modifications, and a more up scale decor.

Carnival and Costa use the same shipbuilder - Fincanteri in Italy, and the same Blueprints, both sail the Spirit Class Ships,Costa uses ships of the Destiny design and the New Carnival Splendor which will be finished in 2009, will be an exact copy of the Costa Concordia.

P.S. , Costa's official currency onboard is the Euro, not the US Dollar, so you will have to make mental calculations
of everything you buy.

I am a Canadian citizen, I dont mind using the US Dollar - it is be benchmark that most currencies measure against, I know that 1 CDN = 0.89 - 0.90 US, 1 US = 1.13 CDN, but converting from CDN - Euro wold be a mental chore !!

1 CDN = 0,70 Euro (market value = 2. october 2006)
1 US-$ = 0,79 Euro

1 Euro = 1,43 CDN
1 Euro = 1,27 US-$

Uwe

Print off a "cheat sheet" before you go ...it give a close rate to do the calculations.

Hi Renata,
Thank you for your information. We are sailing on the Magica for Christmas and I'm very excited. I haven't been on Costa since the Carla, so it's been about 20 years. I had so much fun on the Carla and I hope the Magica is as well. Is the Magica easy to find your way? Is there a really good bar? Do they have any specialty drinks? Thank you.
