HAL Maasdam Norfolk VA January cruise

We just completed an 11 day cruise on the Maasdam.The ship is showing its age (11 years). The staff is showing its change since Carvial owns the company. This was our 12th cruise on HAL. Our last cruise was a long while ago on the (old Rotterdam) a great ship and staff. This cruise was fun, but their was a less friendly staff attitude. Not everyone, but the crew seemed understaffed and overworked. The ship arrvd in Norfolk on Jan 20th and the overall cleanleness of the cabins was less then great. The cabin staff had two ful days to clean, while the ship repossitioned from Fl. Curtains had grease stains and were getting threadbare. Dust everywhere. Bathroom floors needed a deep clean as did the tub.The sink should have been replaced. Some cabins didn't have heat, and it was cold. Some of the toliets didn't work. and that awful smell of a backed septic system was their. We love HAL but this was not their best ship forward.

Have you been on the Westerdam since they refurbished it? Are the rooms clean and new?
