We have been on this ship 3 times. Not because we really love it but because it's so cheap and they're itineraries are so delightful. However it's really 'no frills' cruising. In hotel parlance, it's Holiday Inn as opposed to the Hilton. You'll be among many Canadians, but many more Brits. The ship caters to the Brits. In fact all prices are in pounds sterling. The cuisine is to the British palatte. There is really nothing Canadian about the ship except they want our money.
The food is decent but not outstanding. The entertainment is heavy on British humour but can be enjoyable. The ship is very friendly as her size forces civility. The cabins are small. I mean broom closet small. It takes a few days to get used to how small they are. By the way, I believe all cabins have birth-control bunks. No room for double beds.
The ports you visit our great. WE have done all (3) the cruises that the Sundream offers. We may board her again in the future, but only if the itineray is interesting. Once you have sailed on the more prestigious and bigger ships it's hard to return to Sun cruises ships. They certainly aren't ships you'd sail just for the ship's sake.
As a first-time cruise it's an excellent introduction.
But be aware that due to the cheap price.....you get what you pay for. Futhermore.....the price makes it affordable to the less classy members of society.
Go and enjoy it for what it is. A cheap Caribbean cruise, but don't expect much glamour.
